Michele de Nevers is a Senior Associate at the Center for Global Development. She leads CGD's work on climate change, with a focus on climate finance, including adaptation finance, REDD+ and scaling up private sector investment for climate action. In 2011 she was a Visiting Fellow at the Global Economic Governance Programme at University College, Oxford. She worked for many years at the World Bank, including as Senior Manager of the Environment Department from 2008 - 2010, where she led the preparation of the WB's corporate Environment Strategy and public consultations on the WB Strategic Framework for Development and Climate Change. She oversaw the WB's work on climate change, environmental economics, biodiversity, pollution management and other environmental issues and was part of the management team for the Climate Investment Funds, the $6.8 billion fund for investment in mitigation, adaptation and forestry in developing countries. Previously, Michele worked on WB environment and development projects in South Asia, Latin America, East Asia and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines. Michele holds degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, (AB Bacteriology) and MIT (Management/Finance).
